I've now had my new-to-me Fryer mill with a Centurion 1 controller for 6 months, and only just now managed to drill 4 holes on 1" centers w/o breaking anything. For me, as a CNC novice, this is a great leap forward. :-)
No, it didnt take me 6 months. I've been tied up with other work and the machine has sat idle; I've only managed a few hours of time figuring out how everything works. But everythign does, I'm pleased, and ready to make my first real parts, some little manifolds out of 303 stainless. For now I'm terrified of tapping with the mill, so I'll just mill the blocks, drill and hand tap.
One thing has me a little stumped. I seem to have access to only a limited number of screens compared to the Centurion manuals I've read. For example: if I hit the F8 programming key it drops me right into conversational programming - I dont seem to be able to write or edit G code. I figured this was because of the user level settings, but when I go into settings, use the password PROTO3, and try to change the level it doesnt seem to make a difference.
Anyone have any idea whats going on?
thanks,
Sam
