Solidworks 2009 .sldprt file into Mastercam X3 to generate g-code to machine it???
Solidworks File in Mastercam
1) In Solidworks save files as STEP 214 file format
2) In Mastercam open STEP file.
In Mastercam you may have to create curves on the part edges. These curves help to create contours, pockets, holes, etc. You can create gcode on surfaces but if you are used to working with wireframe creating curves is easier.
Training books on Mastercam are available from emastercam.com. Mastercam comes with pdf files on how to use it but some prefer the training books as they have small projects that show you how to do them from start to finish.
With X3 you can import a .sldprt or .sldasm file directly.
I also use the X_T (parasolid) format very often. Personally I don't use STEP format unless everything else fails. Parasolid is very reliable from all of my customers except when the parasolid was generated with ProE for some reason.
