    Buying Mori NT

    Hi!

I'm going to buy Mori NT4250 DCG1500SZ (second hand)
Its used machine and i would be grateful if i could get some info if there is something what should be checked...common probles etc.
We have several multifunctional lathes, but not a single Mori NT. We do have mori MT, nut in this Nt series upper turret has more y-axis move because of not "triangle constructrion". Is it rigid ??
Machine looks quite impressive & rigid in pictures / papers.
    Lower turret has live tools

Comments about this NT machine overall would be fine.
We have been also lookin for Okuma Macturn and Doosan MX. But i think Doosan will be "light".

    Thanks,

    GB

It is rigid machine!a good machine!
But if it is used machine, you don't know what happened to it,you must check them as follows
1)tool spindle accuracy by test bar when b axis is 0,-90,+90 degree
    2)spindle noise when it's 1000rpm~maximum
3)every axis noise when it is rapid
    4)check level when moving z1 axis,z2axis a-axis(sub spindle )

You should check machine accuracy sheet attached with machine.

    Good luck!

any machine in reasonable condition can be brought back to manufacturer specification to correct any inconsistencies in accuracy. NTs are not that old so it shouldn't have issues with bed wear, bearing noise etc.
check the manufacturer plate at the side/rear of the machine for manufacture date.
then check power on hours and run time hours (in the control system settings etc)
    also look for physical damage.
move machine in rapid on all axes and do several tool changes to check for proper operation of the ATC
if you can ask the current owner to run a demo of the machine working.
