I cut some angle iron to 7" and drilled the holes 1/2" in for the bolts for the skate bearings. spaced with nuts, and cut to length after with the angle grinder.





so, what are the tried and trusted ways for attaching these to the wooden sides for the Z assy ?

Route some slots to support them, and bolt through the angle. The 4th pic here shows mine.

that's quite neat

I'd seen various options along that theme on some builds here. That shows it quite clearly !

As I'm using steel angle, I'm considering tack welding some threaded rod to the inside, instead of drilling through, and clearancing for the bolt head.

the slots look easy to do on the TS too
