Are there any controllers that connect directly to Haas

We're working on building a indexing rig on the 4th axis for a Haas VF-1 and would like to know if anyone has heard of a servo driver, or as a package, that takes Haas outputs directly?

    Sorry proprietary only from haas!

    You can rig manual indexing!

What are you trying to do?

    Cam, slots, holes what?

Look on ebay and other used surplus 4th axis indexing from Haas, there are thoushands of them out here pretty reasonable.

is your machine 4th axis ready?

We are thinking to add a 4th board if required but for now just use the tool to hit the button and cause position change. There is a fellow in the Haas forum who made a board to do more complex control, just sent a pm to find out details.

It's going to be thru hole for various parts but the first app is just a inexpensive index for a tombstone making electronic parts. We don't know if we'll even get the job beyond making prototypes and short runs.

The ebay stuff seems good for the most part but beyond our current budget of, what can we scrounge up from all these gear boxes in the shop to accomplish some basic indexing.

    Hi Cobbled Tagether

Yes you can run a 4th axis from the #2 RS 232 port I have not done it but some others on the Zone have (post I think by PIT202) Read your haas manual it is called a auxiliary axes & it kind of tells you how to do it there are some parameters to set

    Hi mactec54, JimPAC,

mebe90 hasn't had a chance to debug the board yet and will post in the haas section after doing some research.

    Thanks for the suggestions

    Hi all,

I am working on a simple board for exactly that application,
low budget indexing including direct control with the haas-machine-codes.

I begun this project for a friend who has a HAAS VF-4,
his machine has already 4 axis, we want to add a fifth.
The PCB will run also on two other small HAAS mills of him,
on which he want a fourth axis addition.

He is just doing the mechanics, a simple manual indexing-table,
like the Vertex 150 and then modified with a servo-motor and
    a air-pressure-brake.

He once said that there are a lot of people who could use such
a low-budget indexing table and so I planned to sell the Boards.

Please note that my board is only an interface between HAAS
    and any servo- or stepper-driver.

It will have a CLI over RS232 to be configured.

On your HAAS-Mill you can select how many axis you have.
If you activate one more axis, the computer will tell you
that there is a RS232-communication error.

My board will have exactly the same behaviour as an original
    HAAS indexing-table.

Im going to debug the board today, and will report the progress.
