Any interest in 1" thick fixture plates?

I like the tormach ones but at only 10mm they are kinda thin.
    32836 - Aluminum Fixture Plate, 18"x8"x10mm

I need to make a few fixtures and wanted something thicker to work with. So I found some 1" thick ones.

In order to get a decent price I had to get a few. If anyone is interested, I have extras I can sell at $85/ea. (They fit in a flat rate box, so $20 shipping for up to 3)

    For your convenience: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=261248231619

I can also get 2" thick ones for around $150.

    Speedy Metals has 1" x 8" x 18" bar for $71 and 2" x 8" x 18" for $131.

    FYI....

Man I should have paid more attention last night... I ordered but I see now this is not 'plate' it's 1" flat bar. I could have got that for $67 locally at metal by the foot. Too quick on the click last night. I was just trolling around for actual cast plate late last night and ran across this and snapped it up.

    Very True!

I find that my local supplier is competitive with their prices and I wasn't going to get a quote from my supplier just to post it online. I was just trying to make the point that it was not any kind of great price.

My local place is minimum of 50% off speedy metals, if I lived closer to Kansas City it would be closer to 70% off.

Dont forget your sales tax as well. These are near $6/lb. Not an unreasonable price at all. And considerably cheaper than all the online vendors I looked into.

For what it's worth, local recycler prices (Knoxville) are around 2 bucks a pound for plate like this. I just picked up 8 feet by 13" by a half for about 85 bucks. Probably a half-pound of dirt on it, but it surfaces to 0.5 just fine. Fortal.biz often has Blanchard ground plate in 3/4 and thicker plate for very reasonable prices (example, 16x16x0.75 i- around $110, 5 bucks a pound, and they ship USPS cheapest way. Fortal is more-or-less equivalent to 7075. Their non-ground stuff is around 4 bucks a pound- but it's all drops, you take what's on hand or wait. Scott K at Fortal.biz is a pleasure to deal with, and he will send a current inventory on request.

If 1 1/4" will work, and you don't mind having rounded corners this might do it http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item...d=110859764005

I have bought a bunch from them, good people, decent discounts for bulk.

Super easy to order from s&s machine over the phone too.

I use Metal By The Foot. They are right off the Benton exit on I-70 East. They have the common basic stuff there but not the higher end alloys. If you need cold roll, hot roll, or 6061, they have a good selection of it.

Certified vs non = big difference in price. It has more todo with code for the aluminum fabricator (pool, homes, etc..). I've noticed bubbles, pitting, flaking in the metal buying from the cheaper extruders. I normally cut around/deepre or facemill the part if I can, but most of time they're trashed if they don't meet spec. Anyone else have issues like that ?

I have never had any issues like that with metal from Kaiser Aluminum. What brand were you using?

Does anyone have a good source for Aluminium fixture plate in Australia? Preferably in Sydney.

I have ordered 10mm plate from a local Aluminium supplier before it arrived with a huge bend in it.

    Thanks!
