    About longest Axis

Guys, for 1000mm travel, 1605 Ballscrew are too small? i was thinking about purchase some 2005 instead the 1605 for the longest axis.

Another thing is the Stepper for this 1000mm travel, I just have 490 oz.in Nema 23 steppers. will be better to purchase 1200oz.In or 1805oz nema 34 steppers for this length?

    Thanks in advance.

I have 36" travel on X which is 914 mm, pretty close.

I use 15mm ball screws, works just fine but with 15mm pitch. That means even at higher feed rates it does not need to rotate that fast and they don't whip up to 500 ipm (12700 mm/min) that I tried. But then, I have higher torque NEMA34 steppers to compensate for the loss of leverage.

I would not recommend NEMA34 steppers with 5mm pitch ball screws. They usually have high inductance and don't like to spin very fast. That would really limit your speed (e.g. for a wood router).

You need to look up the formula for screw whipping limits (I have seen them somewhere but forgot) if the 16x5mm ball screws can handle your desired feed rates.

Thanks too much jerry, looks not easy to find ballscrews with more than 5mm pitch in 16 an 20mm diameter, will try to find some of these. Thanks for your support!

10mm pitch is better for a router, yes. Check the Chinese sellers on Ebay, they should offer them.
