    11T "SR830 Communication Error"

I can transfer from the PC to the Controller, but not from the controller to the PC. I am using a non-handshaking custom cable made to the specs found many places on the web for Fanuc. Is there a parameter that I've overlooked? Anybody have any ideas?

    Thanks...

    SR 830
    DR OFF(2)
The data set ready signal for reader/punch interface 2 went off.

<custom cable made to the specs found many places on the web for Fanuc> doesn't tell us anything specific.

Post the pinouts for the cable you made.

This is fun. Your link shows four cables, and since you stated you're NOT using handshaking, I'm GUESSING you're using the 9pin to 25pin Null Modem cable and NOT the 25pin to 25pin cable. Am I right?
To save time, my next question is going to be, "What software are you using?"

I've read where some people had to turn off Fifo support in Control Panel of Windows for the serial port they were using.

    Check parameter 0038
    What is in it?
    Also,
SETTING values: PUNCH CODE = ISO, INPUT DEVICE = 1, OUTPUT DEVICE = 1
Are your "SETTING" values correct? The alarm states a problem in interface 2 and I think you should be using interface 1
    Let us know.

Sorry about the cable confusion...I posted that message between trips to the bathroom! You are correct 9-25 without handshaking. I'll check the other suggestions this morning.

Paramater 0038? What does this do?

This list matches your list with a few others listed

Again, make sure INPUT DEVICE=1 and OUTPUT DEVICE=1 on Setting Screen 1 under parameters

I'm using DNC4U for file transfer. The TV check is zero, Punch code is zero (ISO), Input device is 1, Output device is 1. I changed these last night.

Is a power-down/power-up required for these parameters to take effect?

It works now...I don't know what I did differently. I DID power down, then back up after making changes...I don't know if that puts the changes into effect, but at least it works. Thanks so much for your help bborb!
