Clever ways to hold material down

    Hey all --

I recently got our 4x8 gantry up and running, which means it is time for me to figure out how to hold the part material tot he table. We don't have a vac set-up (yet), it's just an mdf board on the metal frame. I made a grid of holes on the table to use for bolts for a toeclamp set-up, which will work ok for quite a bit.

I have quite a bit of wood that is not very big (less than 24" square, often less than 10" square) and I want to route the edges. Suggestions?

The pieces I'm working on have keyholes in the back, for hanging eventually. Was wondering if we could utilise it in some manner. I don't want to have to drill holes through the entire thing, but I'm open to ideas on how to do it.

    thanks

Hold on, I mean Hold Down.

    tyskkvinna,
I would think the "keyhole" idea would work, with enough of them (one in each corner). You may also want to try double sided tape.
    Just a newbie's $0.02.

    Randy,
    I may not be good....

I do not want to go the tape route. I've had it suggested and I'm just not keen on it overall.

Use a piece of MDF/particleboard as a "backer board" and attach it to the back of your workpiece with flat head screws. Then screw or clamp the edges of the the backer board to your table.
