    which way up dovetail slides?

    Does it matter which side up on a dovetail slide? on some machines I see them female up and others female down....

    Once the Gib is adjusted and everything honed shouldn't it function either way?

    IMHO you place in the position that is best to the way you machine is setup or in the position in which they will stay the cleanest.
