We have a Cincinatti Milacron 30VC vertical mill that we're bringing up to speed and are looking for the biggest vise we can find. Anybody know where to buy such an item? We're thinking at least an 18" throat but bigger is bigger. Do swivel vises even come this large? I've seen the Kurt models that go to 10". Any help would be appreciated...

There are vises that are unlimited in range. I don't know how large those get either though.

They are simply a stop with a vise mechanism that gets bolted to your table where needed.

Forgot to mention - our table does not have t-slots. Thus the need for something we could just bolt to the table for general purpose clamping...any ideas?

Got a supplier name for the unlimited length vise? Or are 2 piece clamps the best bet?

Why don't you build your own vise? If thats your shop you look like you should be able to do it. If your looking to have a large vise made, we could do it for you. It would be made from precision ground hardened steel. Let me know maybe we can work something out.

I think I would outfit the machine with a "table plate", that will allow you to put "T" slots dowel pin holes, tapped holes etc and any other needed items onto it. Done that with a couple machines and it works great. Especially if you have any need to locate fixture plates on the machine they go back to the same loc every time.....As well as Indexers and Trunnions.

Sweet little machine.

Kurt makes a 10" vise but the cost will make you cringe. Anything larger is going to be very cost prohibitive.

A vise for a machine like that doesn't make a lot of sense, Like STI2011 suggests, make a sub plate and get some modular tooling. Kurt, Carr Lane and Erowa make modular vises.

Vischer and Bolli also have a awesome line of high precision modular workholding components. Prepare to spend a boxcar full of money though.
