Red face Starting a Plasma Table

    Hello all,

After alot of research i finally decided to start my own plasma table.

I have start to make the designs of the base and gantry of the table.

The table will be a 5'x10' i think ( 3100mm x 2100mm ), but now some questions pop in my mind!!!

    1. Should i put only 1 motor on the X axis or 2???

    2. Im think of buying a pak from candcnc for this size of table which one is best? (i'm thinking because in my country (Portugal) when the product that comes from america enters we pay alot of taxes!!!)

    3. Is there any plans arround for the torch holder on the z axis?

And for today it's all , on the next couple of days i will bore you guys again.

    Best Regards

    Ivo Seabra

P.S.- Sorry for my bad english!!!

For questions 1 & 2 it would depend a lot upon the design you end up with.
Tom, at CandCNC might advise which of his products are best suited to your build.

It's not a plan but to hold a manual torch on my CNC plasma table I used a tube that the torch nozzle fit snugly into.
The tube has 2 splits cut in it & is welded to the torch mount plate at the bottom of the Z axis.
A gear type hose clamp is tightened around the assembly to hold the torch firmly.

The attached picture shows the above.

    Plasma cutter

    Ismaster,

    Your English is quite understandable!

If you will email me directly, I can send you pictures of machines we used to make, as a source of ideas to build your own. Since I designed these several years ago, I am quite familiar with approaches and pitfalls.

The machines we made varied from a small 3 x 3 optical tracer to 14 x (any length) gantries. Most were CNC machines, most plasma.

I can be reached at jccinc-at-owc-dot-net.

    Regards,
    Jack C.
