    Cool Kolmorgen Industrial drive burnout

    I have a Deckel FP3a with Hurco Max 2 and kollmorgen drives and motors. My Z axis drive blew up well 1 power transistor blew apart is this caused by a short in the motor or something else

    More than likely just the drive went bad. Have you tried to swap with another axis and see if the original axis work with the other drive. I have a guy who can repair the drive and he probably has rebuilt drive in stock.

    I have not swapped any drives, but I have replace the power transistor and tested the motor with an ohm meter but the same transistor blew out again. Now I am having the motor tested at a shop and am looking for more advise. As this is a old machine an of limited use (but it comes in handy at times) I really don't want to spend a lot of money on it.
