    CNC Simulator

I noted some discussion about using CutViewer. It is a great program but rather pricey for the average home hobby user.

I discovered CNC Simulator a while back. Although it do not have all the bells and whistles that are in CutViewer, it does do a great job of showing your GCode in action. Works in both 2D and 3D and is a very good training tool.

Highly recommended and it is FREE! That in itself is a plus.
You can down load it at http://www.cncsimulator.com

I've tried it twice before and it never worked right for me. Guess I'll download it and try again.

I've installed CNC Simulator and need some help to make it behave.

I run through a .nc file which I've already used to successfully engrave, but it spits an error at me "G02 Illegal Endpoint".
Is there a way to change CNC Sim from absolute to incremental arcs? This particular file was generated in absolute.

I also can't find how to set the machining stock to a round cylinder.

    Change to Turning

I don't have any idea what is going on with the code error you are getting.

To change to round stock you simply need to go to "Screen" and then click on "Turning". That will change the stock to circular and you can now set the size and prospective.

    Hope this helps,
    George

The turning setup isn't any use. I'm actually milling round cylinders which sit fixed to the table. Axis in the Z direction.
Trying to run milling g-code with the turning setup gives completely the wrong result.

I might have another look at the EMC simulator.

I have been using CNCsimulator off and on for about two years with great success. I use it to check my code before running it.
