    Wire EDM question

Hello, our new old edm came with .012" non paraffin wire.

Is this a standard general purpose consumable or should I be looking at different options?

    thanks in advance

.010" wire is more standard than .012, but you have to use what your guides are designed for.

.012" is generally used for roughing/high speed operations, or when you don't need the best finish or inside corner radii. I'm sure you can get a good finish with .012, but depending on your machine, most of your settings are probably designed for .010.
