During a routine service call today I noticed that one of the machines I was checking was foaming almost out of the chip hopper. This company has 45 machines all on a central coolant system and this was the only one that was foaming...

2 hours and 5 gallons of defoamer later, we found out that one of the maintenence guys had cleaned out the machine on third shift the night before with floor cleaner instead of the sump cleaner that we recommend. Since the floor cleaner is designed to foam a lot, this was a huge problem.

We eventually stopped the foam by completely dumping the sump and rinsing it out 4 or 5 times. No parts were damaged, just some pride...lol

Anything like this ever happen around your shop?
