Stepper Weaker & slower in one direction

    Hi All

Im after some help, I have converted a manual 4" rotary table to CNC, I am using a 262oz/in Nema 23 Stepper with a 4A driver and a 42V PSU.

All my other steppers are running fine, but this one when attatched to the table is slower and weaker in one direction when compared to the other.

Could this be my wiring? (bipolar parallel)

I guess I am asking if this is possible or wether it is more likley down to something wierd with the worm drive.

    Thanks

    DJH

I'm not the expert in steppers and drives, but I can't imaging what electrical could be causing that.

I'd look mechanical first. Disconnect the stepper and screw from that carriage to move it by hand.

Connect the screw without the stepper and turn it by hand moving the carriage.

As a guess, are you using parallel captured rails? Could they be out of parallel? This would force the rails apart in one direction loading the motor more.

While not impossible that it would be electrical, it's pretty unlikely. Check the mechanicals.
