    FADAL 4020 RESOLVER ISSUE

Our 4020 machine begins to drift in the z axis after running for about 1 hour. We confirmed this my attaching an indicator and then jogging the z axis incremently. The indicator shows that the head will move as much as .003" for every .001" jogged. The head will also drift a few thousandths after your hand is off the jog dial. We have swaped the amplifier and servo cards per the instructions on Fadal's Axis Control troubleshooting chart and the trouble does not follow the card. We are wondering if the problem is indeed the resolver which is what the troubleshooting chart indicates. Any thoughts on this issue would be appreciated.

    Indeed sounds like a resolver
We have had good luck with our Fadals milling mostly soft steel and aluminum up to 5 axis. We are always looking for spare parts If you have a broken down Fadal give a shout.
