I have always wanted to hang one of those robots upside down on a frame and then you could roll it into a work position for plasma, mig or routing.

I just seen your thread for the first time.

I happen to be a very experienced Camsoft user. And I'm building my own 7'x12' Plasma table. the unit is 90% complete with the mechanincal, no electrical at all yet. I'll let others advise you on mechanical. I'll only mention you need super high acceleration for a good plasma machine. In general it is better to reduce weight to the lowest practical amount rather than use bigger servos.

    Thanks Karl.

Your suggestion is exactly where we are at. We have reduced the weight to the point where two (side driven) 34 frame motors mounted to gear boxes with Helical rack and pinion gets us to the acceleration numbers we were targeting. But not without alot of work reducing all the weight we could.

    Thanks!

I would love to re-visit Camsoft, but I can't get anyone to return my calls. When I call the office #, an answering machine picks up. Are you suggesting camsoft would be the better option?

    BTW:
    congrats on the 1,000th post!

Camsoft is an EXCELLENT machine control package. Many have asked this very question on the camsoft forum. Go over there and read through old posts.

Won't return your calls???? I can only guess, has their sales decided you're a tire kicker?
