    Cabling and Connectors for Servos/Encoders?

I have been learning a lot about cabling and connectors for steppers, but what about servos?

I bought a used X2 mini-mill with an IMService DeskCNC kit that was never put together and which didn't come with any cabling or connectors. Can I use a 6-conductor cable for the power and encoder leads? Or do I need to use a separate cable for the encoders, perhaps something shielded or twisted, to prevent signal interference?

I'm thinking about using this quick connector at the motors, but I'm open to other suggestions.

I'm going to connect the other cable ends directly to the screw down terminals on the driver and controller boards. Once everything is running satisfactorily and I finally decide on an enclosure, I may or may not add quick connects at the controller end.

Any specific suggestions for parts or sources would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

The encoders MUST be run through their own shielded cables, with the shield grounded ONLY at the BOB end. I wouldn't use those connectors - much too easy for chips to get in there, and a shorted encoder mean a runaway servo, which could do lots of damage. I use hooded DB-9 connectors. 4-pin XLR connectors are also readily available and cheap. You can get them from Radio Shack, Digikey, Mouser, etc.
