HI,
When importing a 3D model in Artcam pro I don't get the vector in the 2D view, so I can only generate the gcode for machining the entire "material", not just the vector of the 3d guitar top I want to machine...how can I solve that?

Using the "relief preview" will give you a shape to trace.
You may even be able to use the "Bit map to vector" function
by messing with the colors. Don't have time at the moment.
If it works I'll post it later. Hope this helps.

Try this instead. Import your STL file. Then save the .stl relief as a .rlf file. "Reset" your relief layer. After that "paste" the saved .rlf file. You'll have a vector outline of the profile. I would take a minute to smooth out the nodes. Pasted .rlf vectors are pretty jagged. Good luck

just the top, not the whole piece of wood...probably the machining time will be the half...
