I would of course do that, but then it would cut up the ball on the way in. Don't want to cut your ball. Of course, the ball is an exercise ball and it leaks air anyway, so maybe I'll do that anyway..

LOL Not mine, the GF's... Is it bad to machine PVC? I'm building some stuff, and it's getting a little stinky in here.. I suppose coolant would possibly keep the fumes down.. Maybe I need a respirator..

I forgot about the little holes on the side. Dont cut them with pliers you will squish the tube and have a hard time making it look good. I used a belt sander to take it like a 1/4 of a inch.

Don, I must point out this is not the same type of pump. Although the case style is the same, that is a diaphragm pump according to the link. The type I am using is a piston pump, basically driven by an electromagnet and returned by a spring. These typically seem to flow a lot more air, require less maintenance but can't always deliver air at higher pressures - luckily that isn't really necessary for chip clearance.

you know i looked at thoes kinds of pumps when i was setting mine up, but then when i found my used pressure washer pump, i decided not to spend the money.

A leaf blower? In an apartment? Neighbors might be bothered a bit. Should solve the swarf problem quite well though. And yes flood coolant or any liquid sprayed or dripped onto a spinning tool will splatter everywhere, period. I just built a drain pan for my A2ZCNC modded Sherline. Not perfect but it cleaned the area up quite a bit. Cuts much better and faster with the swarf gone.

As far as pumps go look at what the hydroponic guys are using now a days .
They need to move some serious water fast.
They have almost ever thing you would need for your system.
    Trays pumps connectors ect ect
    Have a look

The best thing from htgsupply is the T5 two tube light fixtures. If you are tired of the pure junk fixtures that HD has try one or two of the T5 fixtures.

The stock bulbs are way yellow but you can get some 4300 kelvin tubes fairly cheep.

    10,000 lumens per fixture.

I have three fixtures so far and they solve the light problem without making as much heat as halogen. They don't come with a lens so you may need to fit one.

You get a cool lighter with each one with some strange plant logo on it!

    Programmable Air or Coolant Nozzle

    Hi Colin,

I realize you guys are using different machines that what I have but thought you might enjoy watching this video.

Very nice setup with the air but I am some what unsure why you would want coolant coming on in spurts like that. Mach3 can turn the coolant pump on and off at the start and end of a cutting cycle.

    Coolant Clarification

    Hi sfrankland,

It does not put out coolant in spurts. When placed the coolant positon it reverts to the standard (coolant on all the time) as would normally be the case.

Not sure how Mach 3 works but you could probably????? hook it up to a relay and get air instead of coolant if desired.

Okay I had been planning on building system that would use either coolant or air depending on what I was doing. Watching your video HelicopterJohn I figure a 3 way switch to switch between coolant and air with the air side connected to a variable intermittent relay (same as a intermittent windshield wiper). That way Mach3 could be connected to a relay that would turn on what ever system was selected, coolant or air, without any complicated issues or wiring. Will have to wait for my parts to come in and try this out.

    Programmable Air Coolant

    Hi sfrankland,

With the new modern machine controls that are available today the sky is pretty much the limit if you do the proper research.

The manual foot pedal I showed in my video is also a nice feature. If you are machining and want to quickly blow away the chips around the cutter it works great. You can often find those Heinrich foot pedals or hand operated air valves on E-Bay for a reasonable price. It would probably work GREAT on the smaller desktop machines such as that are discussed here on this forum. Just hook up a line to your shop air compressor and install a regulator if you need a certain PSI and you are on your way. May have to fabricate a little devise to hold your nozzle.

Good luck on your project. Hope my little video was of some help.
