Please correct me if wrong, but
does this machine come with a network card and set-up thru the "Macman" application and use an ethernet cable ?

If yes, it would be better than using a RS232 with a PC terminal, all comms can be done at the machine with no contact with the PC

does pushing the "!" button near F1 key give any other info on that alarm #5235 ?

I don't know wish DNC program you use but, on our machines, we have:

    $program name.MIN% (at the beginning)
    ...
    ...
    ...
    M02
    % (at the end)

    DNC SETTING:

    BAUD RATE: 4800
    PARITY: EVEN
    DATA BITS: 7
    STOP BITS: 2

TRY THIS AND GIVE NEWS !!!

this error indicates wrong device name clearly. The best for beginning is to use default device, set by parameters, not typing device name into command. Pay attention - parameters describes separate serial communication ports for parameters, for reading and for punching part program. By the way, You can use "punch", it would be normal for this control.
