    Gecko G540 and 2 powersupplys possible ?

    Hi there,
Just bought the PSU for the machine I intend to put together.
    50V 10amps PSU.
From what I understood -to drive 4 axes at the max capacity of 3.5Amps
you would need a minimum of 10 Amps from the PSU.
If the PSU has only 10 A you would have nothing to spare and I understand the PSU is best to have amps to spare.

Question is - can I rig 2 PSU's with the G540, and how should they be wired ?

    Regards,
    Florin

Happy Holydays !!! All the best.

A 50V 10A power supply should be adequate. The rule of thumb is 2/3 the total amp rating of the motors so 3.5 * 4 * .67 - ~9.4

You usually don't use 4 motors of equal torque. You probably need either a heavier motor on the Z axis or 3 lighter motors for the other axes. What machine are you using these motors on?

all motors are the same, nema 23, 425 oz, they were too cheap to bother with different torque ones.

OK, it's a router not a mill. X has 2 motors driving it? Should be fine then.

    Thanks for the answers,
today the motors just arrived and Surprise - they shipped different ones, intentionally or unintentionally.

Ordered from Zapp Automation UK, it seems I'm not the only one that got different motors.
