Has anyone converted a Grizzly G0484 bench top mill into a cnc? It looks like it would be easy to do. The z has a power feed motor connected to a 10 pitch lead screw which is mounted to the square column via dove tails with adjustable gibs. The lead screw nut is split for backlash adjustment just like the x and y. I guess it would be best to drive the z via the lead screw and leave the quill locked in its up position for the best regidity.
Which nema 34 motor torque would be adequate for machining most metals?
It looks like this conversion would be less than $3k.
