Hi guys i am new and i am having probably a newbie problem

when i generate my code and i go over to mach 3 th start point (0,0) is WAY WAY WAY below my part so it jogs up to start the part (sometimes 10-12in) and seeing that my mill isnt that big it dosnt work out

how do i set the start point so that it is on the connor of my part or int he middle of my part so that it is not jogging to king dome kong to start the cut

the way I go about machining with mach using mastercam.
is once you have load your g-code into mach you might want to edit the g code if you knowtice on the begining of you program it gives you some safety codes and a homing position .
what you would want to try is etheir delete those codes or just chage the homing position to say X0,Y0,Z2. (i always delete them.)
so know that you have edit your g-code you go to your mach screen and before hitting reference all on all axis make sure you are set at the origin off your part. (where ever your origin is)
know that you have set all your axis x,y,z just move your z up say 3 inches
all hit cycle start and you will knowtice it will start machine your part.

ok guys i figured it out....

the starting point is point 0, 0, from what ever the staring drawing is for example

if you are using autocad there is a x, y, marker get as close as you can to that mark and when you gen the tool path that will be the 0, 0,

if someone needs help with this let me now and i will take screen shots

It should not matter where the geometry is in Autocad, once you bring it into Mastercam it will use MC's WCS to determine where 0,0 is. Once in MC you can either establish your own WCS or use the global WCS by moving your geometry to the file origin.

btw....try toggling F9 on your keyboard to make sure you have the WCS displayed...

Us Alt F9 if in Mastercam X or higher and this will put the WCS Datum Icon were your Origin is.
