Can't run Type II program on Fanuc 21i-T

    I have a 2001 Romi M17 with a Fanuc 21i-T.

It will run Type I programs, G73 just fine. As long as my X starts at smallest diameter and moves up to the larger diamater (monotonic) it is great and makes the appropriates passes per the cycle.

But when I type in a 'type ii' program where both my X and Z are after the G73 lines, for example

    G00 X.nnn Z.nnn
    G73 U.. W.. R..
    G73 P5 Q.. U.. W.. F..
    N5 G01 X.nnn Z.nnn

My machine gives me the error
    065 Illegal Command in G71-G73

    Please help!

Ok I'm trying to edit parameter 9944 to turn on type 2 programming. I enable parameter writing and then try to change bit 7 to 1, but it stays at 0. Any ideas?

If its anything like my machine (10T) its a special procedure to turn on an option code, like booting into IPL and entering the bits for special options through that interface...

    slowrider,
I am pretty sure that I remember someone saying new i-series controls are a 24hr timed password. Which means there is no tricks or passwords to change anything. You have to have a Fanuc tech come in and they get a password to add options but the passwords reset after 24hrs or something like that.

I do not think it is a parameter issue. You have probably not specified correct values for various G73 words. Or, possibly your start point / profile definition has inconsistency. Send your program for analysis. And G73 is always type II type. We talk about types in context of G71 and G72.
