    Shielded cable for stepmotors?

Do I need to use shielded cable for stepmotor use? Cables are going to be 2 meters long / each. Is 4x0,75mm2 cable enough for max. 3,5A?

    Dear mkuivamaki,

It is a very good idea to use screened cable because it helps reduce electrical interference on other parts of the control circuits. Only ground the screen at one end, not both.

If your cable has four conductors each of 0.75 mm2, it should be OK up to 6 amps, and the voltage drop down a two metre length of cable is not going to be an issue.

    Best wishes,

    Martin
