    Band Saw Blade Inquiry

Hey, I was wondering if their are specific band saw blades made for cutting non-ferrous and ones for cutting ferrous. I've done brief research and saw blades advertised for non-ferrous and mild steel. When I was at school though we had one band saw that was for Aluminum and one for Steel, I know how cutting speed is a factor but I figured I'd ask here for the best response. Basically are there band saw blades that are just for aluminum and ones just for steel or what's the deal with band saw blades and what should I look for when purchasing them?

Some aluminum tends to be a bit "gummy" and plugs up finer teeth. This is why blades for aluminum tend to be coarser and a wider set.

Also, if you run the blades too fast without proper cutting fluid aluminum can weld itself to the blade. Similar to built-up edge on other cutting tools.

Firstly, what type of saw is you intending to use, and is long chipping or short chipping type of aluminium?
