Hi,
Stupid question. I received a new bearing housing and new bearings for my syil sx3 x axis ballscrew. Can't get the preload nut off to replace them. Am I doing something wrong or what?
Thanks,
Kevin

I doubt you're doing anything wrong. Possibly on here I made the comment that it appeared that someone had been swinging off the spanner when they tightened the one on mine. Trying to use the flat on the end to stop the ballscrew from turning was a waste of time.
With a cutting disk, you can cut a slot into the end of the ball screw. Then use a common screwdriver to hold the screw while you unscrew the nut.
CR.
Thanks for the advise. I thought maybe I had lost it. I will cut the slot in the end of the ball screw.
Thanks,
Kevin
If you have a lathe, just grip the ball screw in the 3 jaw.
