File>SaveAs and choose version 12 .dxf, the last one in the file type list.

The architect says he can't save as V12. V 14 is the last version on his list.
I just looked at 2007, it will save as R14 .dwg, but R12 .dxf is at the very bottom. There is no R14 .dxf in my copy of 2007.

bobcad v21 will also open a dwg format...aftter saving file to folder open bobcad go to the folder in the bottom window of open page file type click on dwg the file name will appear
