    Smile Taig mill conversion completed

    so were the screws and brass nuts part of a kit? I dont know how I would feel about using metal on metal for motion. I would imagine it would cause increased wear....

    Fixitt- On the taig the cnc "ready" is equipped with the brass nut no matter what. Unless someone wants something different, they will need too make one.

    yes it's a bronze split nut with adjustment screws to lower backlash. Bronze on steel is fine; dissimilar metals are a good thing. zero backlash ball screws would be better but I'll try this first. thanks, Alan

    Wow, thanks for putting up your web site oisyaot! Looks like you're setup is well thought out and I'm sure I'll adopt at least a couple of your ideas.
