    noise from motor

I am trying to build my first CNC machine. I am concerned with the noise of the router motor. I am considering using an air spindle. I believe this spindle must use some sort of air compressor. Does anyone know if the air spindle with air compressor is quiter than a router motor? Where can I find air spindles and what are the price ranges for them.

I want to avoid having to build an outdoor shed just for my 4' x 3' cnc.

    Thanks,

Seems to be the guy to ask. He has one operating on a CNC machine he built. His pics of the spindle are under Projects - last selection.

Air motors (die grinders) are just as loud as a router. They are not efficient. It takes a two horse power compressor to get 1/4 hp at the die grinder. Stick with a router.

    I wish it wouldn't crash.
