    HAAS TM-1P parts

I am getting reamed by outside shops on my 3d parts and some of my other standard parts. I am starting to look into my own small nc machine. I choose the TM-1P over the mini because of table size. I will be doing alot of custom race car parts, flanges, brackets, frrom 30" long to 3" long on the X. and a max of 12" on the Y. i dont think the Z is going to be an isue.

I have seen some of the work on Utube about the 4th axis on a TM-1 but i would like to see what else everyone is making on their TM. I will be mainly cutting 6061 Al. This is where i would like the bit more speed that the TM-1P offers vs the TM-1. I saw the thread where you can up the rpms and the feed (but they are not part of the warentee).

I will seldomly be cutting SS, like a 304 or a 321, but not as much as AL.

If you do not want to post your part please send me a picture of the finished part, at least that way i have an idea if the TM is capable. I think it is.

    Hi Steve,

Here a few photos of some projects I have worked on. Nothing fancy. I am sure some of the guys can give you some pictures of some really nice pieces.

I've had a TM-1P for a little over a year and it's done a pretty good job. I don't know how much metal you plan or removing but a 1/2 inch 3 flute EM in 6061, full width and .3 DOC will put your spindle load meter on 120 percent. You have to have flood coolant for this kind of cutting and the standard coolant pump is not adequate. Buy the upgrade pump and find a local fab shop to make you a 30 plus gallon coolant tank.

Helicopter John has decked his out real well with lights, filters, big pump, check valves etc. He has posted pictures of his handiwork in other threads.

    What rpm, what feed?

I have a TMP3 on order and I am expecting it to be comparable to a Mini Mill.
An open mind is a virtue...so long as all the common sense has not leaked out.

5000 rpm, 50 ipm. I think the spindle assembly on the TMs is the same as the mini mills.
