    RS232 FILE TRANSFER TIME?

All my other machines have USB ports and file transfer times range from seconds to at most a couple of minutes. I have an RW15 with Cent7 controller and for files larger than 1.4m it seems to only option is the rs232 port , some of my more complex 3d surface files are 5+m in size and transfer at 9600 baud for a 5m file is taking me aprox 1.5 hours. This is the only machine I have which limits me to rs232 comunication so I dont have any thing to gauge it to but is this a normal amount of time to transfer a file this size?

I have the baud rate , bits parity etc set correctly on both ends . The cent7 controller give the option of changing the transfer rate to 19200, which I did on both ends (controller and computer) but cant establish communication at this rate. Any help or thoughts greatly appreciated.

Milltronics will you be offering an upgrade which might add a USB port to the cent 7 controller at some point?

Milltronincs does not offer USB for the Centurion controllers. If you have a control with a single board computer, (All Cent 7 controls do) you can purchase a multi-card reader which allows the user to use a compact flash card, memory card, SD card, etc to transfer files. The option comes with a reader/writer that plugs into the USB port on your computer. If you have questions or would like to order the card reader, please contact Milltronics parts @ 952.442.1410. Thank you

panaceabea, yes that is a normal amount of time for transferring a file of that size. I used to have to do it all the time before I added Ethernet to my VM-15.
