ring roll forge for thin wall parts, 1" to 4" OD

In my field, we use and buy many stainless steel cylindrical parts with thin wall. They are machined from forged stock.

But forged people don't like thin wall so the machining allowance is very big.

The finished part wall thikness is 1.5 mm. The forge told us the best they can do is 5-6 mm.

Since stainless steel is quite expensive; it's a big wast of money.

I tough about ring rolling forging. I said to myself that may be with such process thin wall is easier to get...so I ve been to a forge fair.

But it seems that ring rolling subcontractor only produce big parts. The smallest part is 8" OD, my biggest part is 4" OD. They don't have the machine and it seem's machine to ring roll small ring does not exist.

    Any one know such machine?
Is it a physical limitation from the metal or is it just that there is no market for small ring roll mill?

    Thanks for your help/suggestion

Try to find LEIFELD flow forming machine, ST-serie. Diameter of parts starts from 1''
    That's the process of forming:
