    Mach3 for Dummies and

I have been reading several threads as well as the manual and still am looking for an easy way to wire a laminate trimmer to a relay or other electronic gadget to just start and stop the router. I am by far no electronic wiz but still have the disire to learn. Could someone break it down for me easy. I understand I need to hook wires to the printer port plug and to a relay, but I don't know what I need and where might be the best spot to purchase. I am thinking if someone wrote a Dummies for Mach3 or CNC I would purchase a couple, I do have Easy CNC great starter book but what could I read so I have a Clue as to the terms and understanding of Home style to near Professional Cnc connections and systems. Sorry for the long winded questions.

Spend the $18 for this would be the easiest way imo.

    Hook up Help

I purchased the board below and downloaded the wiring diagram I see the Device and the 110/220 AC or a DC voltage but am not sure as to the hooking up. I wish to install a 110v plug into the controller box so I can plug my laminate trimmer into. So I would figure the common for the 110v household voltage would hook directly to the router and I would splice the second wire going to the router to control the on/off? But the diagram shows 2 wires going into the board??

First, I'm no electrical expert. But here's how I read the diagram.

If you want to wire an outlet, it looks to me like you'd wire the neutral (white) to the "white" terminal on the outlet. Then wire the Black wire to the NO contact on the relay board, and run another black wire from the V_in terminal to the "black" terminal on the outlet. Then you can plug the router into the outlet and it should switch on and off.

Thank you will give it a try. I was wondering if under Mach3 if I should try using the spindle setup screen to config the operation, since I want to control the on/off thought "M" commands? I Guess??? output # means the same as pin # I am hooked up to?

You want to use a spindle relay ( in spindle setup) call it output 1. When you have an M3 command, the pin assigned to output #1 will go high and your router will turn off. When you have an M5 it will take the pin low and the router will turn off.

The wiring scenario suggested by Gerry is correct.
