    thread milling

Hi guys, what tool do you use for thread milling. I bought a 60 deg v cutting tool which I used with good results however I could not cut close enough to a shoulder because of the depth of the tool beneath the cutting surface.

    Thanks

    Thread mill

Can you shorten the head to clear? Put it in a cordless drill and use a bench grinder. I get good results modifing tools this way. If you are using a 60 deg keyseat type cham mill it might not have the correct root radius for your thread.
Can you add a thread releif ? I use thread mills from harveytool.com or micro100.com or internaltool.com
Their are lots of choices look at your catalogs.
