Hi
I have a Emco vmc100, with emcotronic control and finding the stepper motor drive boards keep braking down, is this a common problem with these old machines, or have I just ended up with a bad one.
What would be the normal causes of these boards to break down?
One minute the machine seems to work fine, but then next time you use it, a board pops, these things are not cheap! Ouch!
I was wondering if the boards are easily repairable, by maybe soldering some new replacement components on them.
I must add that I don't know too much about electronics, but I am very practical minded and any guidance/ info would be greatly received.
Or the other option it to retro fit a PC based stepper motor driver control and ditch the emcotronic, but I have not come across one which makes use of tool changers.
Any help would be appreciated
