    Lathe Cam System

I need a cam system for turning operations which is similar to the system used by Hitachi Seiki (Yasnac conversational controls). Does anyone familiar with those machines have any recommendations? I would greatly appreciate your advice.

    Can you clarify?

Could you be more specific on how it needs to be "like " the Yasnac? ... Cost? Compatibility with your machine(s)? It's what you know?

    Tom,

Thanks for your interest and comment.

I have a customer who uses Turn Centers made by several different manufacturers, including Hitachi Seiki-which has a conversational control system. Their current practice is to program all new jobs with the Hitachi Seiki then export to a PC and post to the machine on which they plan to run them. Due to the age of the Hitachi Seiki's they are searching for a stand alone CAM sytem which emulates, as much as possible, that of the Hitachi Seiki.

    Thanks,

Yeah like bluechip says something like a "kentech's - kipware line".
www.mmsonline.com will give you a list of places to shop.
They basically want something real stripped down without all the bells and whistles of even today's mid-range cam systems. The suppliers will generally be small private developers. "mom and popware"
I don't know what the customer's plans to grow are but this sounds like a good time to evaluate those needs and see if it is justified to get ahead of the curve and consider a mid-range system with the cost of training.
Last suggestion, if they go with the "mom and popware" buyer beware....
    Regards,
    T.
