    Angry spindle orientation problem

    I have a Bridgeport interact 412 with a tnc 355 control.

    Today spindle orientation went wrong.

If i program m19 repetitively, every third time, the spindle rotates the wrong way and is approx. 90 deg. out of position !! This pattern happens without fail, twice correct once wrong .

    any ideas anyone

turn the gain down on the orientation board on the drive which stopped it overshooting and coming back and also seems to of stopped the problem i had with no orientation every third time.

This problem kept arising from time to time and a bit fiddle with the offset and gain control made the spindle orient again until eventually it would not work at all,. the fault was found to be:- The encoder bearings had excessive play in them and the glass disc had become scratched . A new encoder fixed the problem for good.
