    et (lathes) phone home

some of our lathes run after hrs. and on weekends unattended.

I have a web-cam setup to monitor them at home.

how can I have a machine call me on my cell phone when it alarms out.

Somebody but I don't recall who (It may have been Switcher) posted that they could set a parameter on their machine for that.

I had thought about how to do this and the only idea I came up with was to have an alarm company install photocell detectors that would respond to the flashing red light and then the alarm monitors would phone and tell me which machine was flashing. Actually I think standard motion sensors will respond to the flashing light.

You just need to be sure the alarm monitors knows they phone you not the police otherwise you get flashing red lights outside the building also .
An open mind is a virtue...so long as all the common sense has not leaked out.

Using parameters to output a signal to a spare output would in effect be able to initiate a sepperate phone autodialer system.

You could also tie the output to a PC program that could send you a PM or online message to your cell phone. There are many ways this could be done.

Another way would be to put a relay in line with the machine stop (flashin red light). This relay could than turn on a signal to do the same.

Any Auto-dialer with no/nc input allows for this with a very cheap price.

Here is one device on a quick search
