It sounds like it could be a problem with stuff upstream of the controller.

I have an old Tosh laptop running Turbocnc. If I run Turbocnc from Windows 98 I get a pretty steady clunk when any axis is in motion, no lockup, but an interruption. Has something to do with interrupts I think.

You're probably going to have to be more descriptive for us lot.

So you haven't said what software you're using, that'll be important.

With my laptop, I have to restart in DOS to get smooth motion from TurboCNC.

You'd probably find info on the applicable users site/forum for your software.

What do you mean by "lock up"? It could be that your just trying to push them too hard, or spin them too fast. What size motors, what are the ratings, what size power supply, how many rpm's are you spinning?

Good point Gerry, perhaps try running uncoupled motors at 50"/m.

kcam is the program, and that is the proublem they run fine on TurboCNC. the rpm is 400 per min. and that is not the limit of the motors from hobby.com 305 in oz motors with pro board. but thanks for all the help.
