Engraving, Tangentail arcs, and crop circles

    Gday to all,

    Here is my problem.

Bobcad 21 with Mach 3 post processor and Mach3

    - Select a Text and place it on the board.
    - Vectorize text.
    - Other - Offset
    Ok Here it is.
If I go directly to Other - Pocket - Setup Spiral it returns the tool path for the whole letter. ( Great)
Go Into Mach3 HMMMMM Crop Circles.

Ok So I go into Change - Reorganise - Clean up and Optimize
Then Change - Reorganise - Make Arcs Tangential

Then go to other - Pocket - Spiral and it returns the toolpath for about 1/8 of the letter, about 3-4 runs around the outside of the letter.

If I do the Reorganise - Clean up and optimize and Skip the Make Arcs Tangential, then do the pocket I get a full toolpath but in Mach3 Get Crop Circles.

I usually set the Make Arcs Tang .0005 and 5

Have played a bit but without success.

This is really starting to Annoy me ( Keeping it clean).

    :boxing: :boxing:

Try using .001 and 15 for your values in the Make Arcs Tangential dialog. It may prove helpful.

Also, how did you get the text profiles?

Read this thread and make your changes to the Driver settings as needed. Here is the Link to the BobCAD/CAM Forum.

Crop circles sounds like a mixup in G02 and G03 arc direction in your controller due to one inverted axis direction, or possibly an incorrect post setting (in Bobcad) for the arc center coordinates, ie., incremental versus absolute.
First you get good, then you get fast. Then grouchiness sets in.

Try changing your IJ mode in Mach3. In the General Config screen.
