Does anyone know the FIFO settings on the computer to use when drip feeding with a fanuc 10m Machine? I keep getting a buffer overflow on the mill. The DNC manual does not give recommendations.

Playing around with the FIFO buffers on the computer did not seem to help so I found a DNC program that dripfeeds in 10 character chunks. That seemed to stop the drip feeding problem as it should not be able to fill the machine buffer now.
hi
i have a device where you can connect usb pen drive to your machine, there is no need of computer for drip feed or program transmission.
no software, no settings parameters easy to use and handy. for more information please visit

I've encountered this before as well.
I think it's because the comm port on the PC is sending to fast (I don't mean the baud rate).
Most DNC software has the ability to put a block delay-wait timer type thing, in msec.
Slowly increase the number on each attempt.
I've had to play with 10-100 delay and then the buffer overload stops.
That said the initial try, make it big (400). If the buffer overflow stops you've found the problem.
A large number will dramatically slow the transfer speed so you want to keep the number as low as possible without causing the overflow.
You state you want to do "Drip Feed", does the machine have a "tape" mode of operation on the mode selector switch? How exactly are you testing this, what are you doing on the CNC machine to start "Drip feed" and what are you doing with the software to handle "Drip Feed"?
