Mounting Carvesmart jaws on 5" CNC vise?

I bought a set of the Carvesmart jaws to use with my Tormach 5" CNC Vise, and the mounting screws don't fit. The jaws ship with button-head 1/2-13 screws, while the vise has 7/16-14 holes and normal SHCS are too tall to use.

I've looked at a half-dozen sites, and nobody seems to stock 7/16-14 button-head screws, and I don't think I can get away with turning down the heads on normal screws. Has anybody else solved this problem? I'm a little annoyed because the Tormach site says the jaws "work with 5" vises" which made me think I was in the clear.

I just got a set from Carvesmart and had to drill them out slightly over-sized since the Tormach vise is slightly off. No big deal, drilled real easy and bolted up with the included bolts.

I don't have that vise but are you certain that the originals are 7/16-14? Could they be M12-1.75?

According to my thread checker - this is a 7/16-14 thread? The M12 fits way too loose. I would have thought this to be a metric thread....

I've got a set arriving Monday.. guess I'll get an order in with McMaster now so I can use them when they land..

This will annoy me too if the bolts are wrong!

    Looks like you're right 7/16-14 (https://www.tormach.com/uploads/917/...0915A-pdf.html)

Like I said earlier, the only thing I had to do was drill out the holes on the CarveSmart jaws slightly. No issues using HSS bit either. I think if you ordered them from Tormach they had made a modification to the CS jaws they sell to adjust for the slight out of alignment of the 5"CNC vise. The bolts CS sent fit as well.

Smokediver, which vise do you have? The bolts they sent are 1/2-13 while the vise takes 7/16-14 bolts.

    I have the Tormach 5" CNC Vise - https://www.tormach.com/store/index....ET&portrelay=1

When I get home, I'll pull the screws out and check them but everything screwed in and torqued down like it should have.

Who did you order the CS from? Did you tell them which vise it was going on?

Ordered from Tormach, was drop shipped direct from Carvesmart. There was no place or option to choose vise type.

I'd contact contact Tormach about that. If nothing else, they need to know there is an issue.
