    Fabrication of chip auger

    Hey all

I wrote in a while ago about if someone knew if there was a auger setup for the Hardinge Quest 6/42 and due to the sheer lack of response I gather that there isn't any.
So I must ask is there a way to aquire parts such as the motor/gearbox and chipscrew to fabricate one from? I don't have a problem with modifying the sump to accept the new parts, just getting the materials seems to be the challange.

    Thanks
    Janos

You can try these for your geared motor

And I am sure these folks can help with the auger.

    Hope this helps

You could try looking for a chip conveyor from a Wickman multispindle lathe. These use an auger, are quite narrow and are self contained.Don`t know the availability of them where you are plenty in the UK.Possibly an Acme Gridley as well. The British machines use augers don`t know about American ones.
