    Question VFD good enough for ridgid tapping?

    Hi All im rather new to the vfd and spindle thing.
    I've recently upgraded to a spindle with VFD. sensorless VFD.
    My question is.. can i do rigid tapping with my setup now? does the vfd track the spindle? somewhat like an encoder would?

    providing i have all the software and hardware for ridgid tapping.

    Normally the Z axis is geared off of the C axis which is an encoder on the spindle.
    A VFD with encoder feedback rather than sensorless vector mode.

    Ive been looking to see if i can outfit my spindle with an encoder.
    but i cant find anything anywhere on the net. is there such a thing or would i have to get a whole new spindle and vfd?

    Usually the encoder feature is ordered as an option on a VFD.
