Thanks for the props Al! That's some old ones I did, have much much better looking ones now!

Also I think it is much better to do all of the 2d geometry lay out first before extruding into what you want. Much easier to do then doing a bunch of Booleans and easier to modify if something is off.

Here is a few of my Cummins VC's I did in the last run I did. I will go out on a limb and say Bobcad has helped me to go from never doing any CAD or CNC machining to having the best looking Diesel VC in my market in 1.5 years. It wasn't easy nor was it quick, but it will get you there if you just keep at it.

Its not as bad as you might think. Not making a killing on them but trying to set it up to where once I move them in more bulk they pay pretty good. These things are not what I intend to be my money makers but bring lots of attention to what I can do and get us some marketing exposure.

What tooling and strategy are using for the inside ?

    Re: CNC Valve Covers

Those VC's there get a 1.125 deep pocket. I use coarse 1/2" EM roughing bit with air and mist and Adaptive roughing pocket. I think around 18% step over full depth and 180 IPM. It dont long, maybe 20 minutes to pocket it out. The whole thing, both side and all the 3D stuff takes around 3 hrs total machine time. I could cut that way down if I had a machine with thru-spindle coolant and high speed spindle. Prob cut it in half or close to it.
