    Mach3 and Parallel port

    Hello,
I’ve been pulling my hair out over the last few days trying to get Mach 3 to run on a different PC. I bought this PC on ebay to run Mach3 solely so I could give the kids their computer back which was running Mach3 with no problem
I can get it to run but, I have to select enable plug and play detection on the printer port properties, under device manager. This is ok until I shut the computer down and start it up again. It won’t run. I have to de-select enable plug and play, shut down the computer again, restart it and then re-select Enable plug and play to run Mach3 again. Very frustrating!!!
Any clues on how I can over come this shutdown re-select business each time.
I never had this trouble with the other computer and I dare not ask the kids for it back.
I’m running a HP 1.6 with 256 Meg of ram.
The printer port is selected as ECP.
    Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi Cam, Just to let you know- I'm not a guru at PC settings, but it seems like a BIOS setting. have a look at the screen when starting it and it tells you what to do in order to access the BIOS of the PC. This you can do only when starting up the PC. Hope this is of help to you.

    Thanks Martin,
I checked out the BIOS the other day to look at the port configuration and found the address was set to 278, changed it to 378, result, problem fixed.

I'm glad you fixed the problem, what machine do you run and what kind of stuff you do with it?

    G'Day Martin,
I use it mainly for basic pattern making and making simple plaques that I then use to mold from and cast in aluminium, bronze or iron.
